Fixing Error of Opening Links from Outlook

This is a simple solution for Microsoft Outlook 2010 and 2007 user who are unable to open links from within the outlook and getting error “This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.”
all you have to do is open an elevated command prompt that means run command prompt as administrator and copy and run following commands.

REG ADD HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.htm /ve /d htmlfile /f
REG ADD HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.html /ve /d htmlfile /f
REG ADD HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.shtml /ve /d htmlfile /f
REG ADD HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.xht /ve /d htmlfile /f
REG ADD HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\.xhtml /ve /d htmlfile /f

After running these commands make Internet Explorer as your default browser. Restart the computer and that’s it, you are ready to go.

Browsers and Search Redirect Hijack Fix

This tutorial is intended to resolve the browser hijack issue in which all your websites or sometimes Google search results are redirect to some random scam pages. The first thing you have to try is to install and update Malwarebytes Antimalware and perform a computer scan using the same. If you get any infection please remove it and check if the issue is resolved, but if after scan you got nothing and the websites are still redirecting so please follow the below steps to fix the problem.

Download Combofix and save it to desktop.
Disable all your antivirus and other antispyware or security applications.
Install and run combofix by double clicking on the downloaded setup.
During the process combofix will check if Microsoft recovery console is installed or not in your computer and will install subsequently if it is not there. If prompted for the same please click on yes to allow the installation. You can have a look of the screenshots below.

Click Yes to continue scan.

After completion of the scan it will produce a log file.

Now to uninstall combofix pull up the run box by pressing windows+R key and type there Combofix /Uninstall. Make sure to leave a single space between x and / . Follow the prompt windows you receive to uninstall Combofix. A small box will appear saying that combofix is uninstalled.
Now Download OTC (Old Timer Cleanit) on your desktop and run it. Please follow the screenshot below.

Click on CleanUp button to initiate the process. After completion it will ask to reboot the computer click on yes and do not worry about it’s uninstallation as it will remove itself during the process.

That’s it and you are done. Please check and confirm that the issue is resolved. Hope this will help some of our visitors to remove the browser hijack which can not be removed using Malwarebytes and Hijack this kind of programs. Please let us know about your feedback.

Yes , they provide these free video lectures on so many subjects that everyone can benefit from them.

Coursera is provides a lot of online courses from leading universities like University of Virginia, Stanford university for free. As of now, they are offering 217 free online courses. Topics ranges from Environmental Science, Cryptography, Maths and a lot more.

W3schools is a very famous and off-course free online tutorials for people looking for free online tutorial on web scripting. W3schools is useful for a professional web developer as well, as it provides a quick reference for a lot of tags which we can’t remember quite quick. Codeacademy provides a lot of Intaractive tutorials for learning coding. The scripting languages covered are JavaScript, Python, HTML/CSS, Ruby on rails etc.

This website provides a lot of free course from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Some of the courses are translated in some other languages like Chinese, Korean, Spanish etc. It contains video lectures and a lot of books available for free.

This contains a lot of eduational videos which are available online for free and yes, you can download these videos as well if you want to keep them in your hard drive.

Project Gutenberg

Project Gutenberg is a collection of thousands of free ebooks. You may find some course text books as well for free here. Yes you can download them too.

This is a very small list if we talk about free resources for self study or for some of us who can not afford a regular course but want to study. If you will Google a bit, you will find a lot of other free resources. We got a lot of new gadgets to put our hands on, Google page got hacked, A thousand new websites were launched, few worth a regular visits also. Livetricks changed it’s layout and stop publishing for more then 3 months (now that’s really funny). Extremely sorry for the last phrase I said, although that is true but there were a thousand excuses behind this particular excuse and yes these excuses are real indeed. Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Released

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS is finally released. Oh you are wondering what is LTS. Let me explain, LTS stands for Long Term Support. LTS release of Ubuntu comes every two years and have extended support from Canonical. This LTS of Ubuntu 12.04 is codenamed as “Precise Pangolin”.In previous releases, a Long Term Support (LTS) version had 3 years support on Ubuntu (Desktop) and 5 years on Ubuntu Server.

Starting with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, both versions will receive 5 years support. Now what else is new is in this version of Ubuntu ? Okay, you will see the new Unity interface in this version,latest version of Unity boasts more than just performance gains. Also you will see the HUD (Head Up Display).

HUD the menu replacement and i am pretty sure you gonna love it. It is something like Google instant search, as you type something in the search box it tries to complete the search by generating some auto suggestions, HUD is something very similar to that, you type in the search box and it will try to generate the some auto suggestions and you can select from them to open the right. You can use it everywhere including terminals to increase productivity.This is the best change in Precise Pangoline.Here is a video which brings you a little closer to HUD.( Sorry i haven’t created this video )

Banshee Music Player is also replaced by Rhythmbox, this change you may gonna love, (at least i loved it, i always hates Banshee). Ubuntu One control panel is also revamped.

There are also little changes in the buttons and widgets, and it seems to be compatible to various virtual machines like VMware and Oracle Virtual Box. So by the time you must be thinking of trying this LTS, so head on to Ubuntu’s website and download the .iso image for free. Google drive was introduced on Tuesday this week by google, so i thought its better to write an article introducing the same. No hurries please ,as you will not be able to use it instantly, you need to visit the Google Drive page and after logging in,click on the notify me link so that you will get a notification as your drive gets ready.
What Google drive is all about,let me explain you. It is Google’s cloud based service which allows you to store,share and access from any where. Google drive offers you upto 5GB of free cloud based storage, and depending upon your need you can upgrade spending some of your hard earned money of course. Google docs is inbuilt in Google drive.

There are certain controversies also which comes in existence along with Google’s new policy which was took effect from March 1, this year, that if Google owns all data on Google drive. In Dropbox‘s policy it is clearly mentioned that we are the sole owner of the data or stuff uploaded on dropbox server and the claims no ownership of our stuff/data, where in Google policy it is not clearly mentioned.

Lets keep all controversies aside and have a look of Google Drive, and wait for something more as promised by Sundar Pichai, SVP, Chrome & Apps at GD’s introductory article on Googleblog.
